Tap a preset to load it; nothing starts until you press Start. Totals include the 10 second get ready. Tabata is loaded the first time you visit.

Set your own intervals

  1. Open Set your own intervals.
  2. Fill in Workout (s), Rest (s) and Rounds.
  3. Press Set.
  • Work can be 5 to 3600 seconds, rest 0 to 3600 seconds, and rounds 1 to 99.
  • With rest at 0, work blocks run back to back.
  • The last plan you set is saved in this browser and loads next visit.
  • Before you start, the status line shows the plan, such as Ready · 8 rounds · 04:00 total.
MessageWhat it means
Work has to be 5 to 3600 seconds.Work is under 5 seconds or over an hour.
Rest can be up to 3600 seconds.Rest is over an hour.
Rounds have to be 1 to 99.Rounds is 0 or more than 99.

How a workout runs

  • Start opens with a 10 second Get ready, then the first work block.
  • Each round is work, then rest. The last round has no rest after it.
  • The caption above the digits names the phase and round, such as Workout · 3/8 or Rest · 3/8, and the clock counts down that block.
  • Get ready is blue, work is green and rest is amber: the caption, the bar and the screen edge all change.
  • The status line shows the time left in the whole workout, such as Running · 02:40 left.

Beeps

  • Three ticks lead into every change of phase, one per second: 3, 2, 1.
  • A bright double tone starts each work block and a lower tone starts each rest.
  • At the end of the workout the alarm rings for up to about 25 seconds.
  • The beeps are scheduled on the audio clock when you press Start, so they land on time even behind other windows.
  • Pause cancels the queued beeps and Resume queues them again from that point.
  • Beeps and alarm turns off the ticks, the tones and the alarm together. The colours still show every change.

End of the workout

  • The screen reads Workout done! and the tab title reads Workout done · TimerFlip.
  • Stop alarm or Space silences the alarm. Start again then repeats the same plan from Get ready.
  • Reset goes back to the start without running.

Why the presets are greyed out

While a workout runs, the presets and the plan fields are locked so a stray tap can't change it. Pause or reset to change the plan.

Float, full screen and second screen

  • On a computer, Start also opens the floating timer, which shows the phase and round.
  • Full screen shows the coloured clock with a bottom bar for start, pause, reset, beeps and exit.
  • Second screen puts the workout on a TV or projector the whole room can see, while the controls stay on your laptop.
